Literacy tip of the week: Your baby is absorbing words and language constantly. Talk them to as if they could respond, and point out things in the environment. This is the way babies learn and build their vocabulary.

Literacy tip of the week: It is great to let babies turn the pages of books because it helps them learn how books work. Board books and plastic books are great for this purpose!

Share songs with your child! They are a fun way to build new vocabulary. For instance, this week I introduced the kids to the word "jig" through "If You're Wearing Green Today".

Literacy tip of the week: Rhymes are so important to baby's language development. One of the many benefits of bouncing rhymes is that they help your baby feel the rhythm of language.

Dr. Seuss Storytime 3/11/14

Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can you? by Dr. Seuss

Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seussy (version of the Hokey Pokey, found here)
You put one fish in (lift 1 finger, then put in in front of you)
You put one fish out (put finger behind you)
You put one fish in and you shake it all about. (shake finger)
You do the Dr. Seussy and you turn yourself about. (turn in a circle)
That's what it's all about!
