ASL Sign of the Week: Stars

If you're going to the moon (from Mel's Desk)
If you're going to the moon wear your boots.
If you're going to the moon wear your boots.
If you're going to the moon, this is what you have to do.
If you're going to the  moon wear your boots.
Other verses include: wear your gloves, wear your helmet, etc.

I'm a rocket (from SLC Book Boy)
I'm a rocket on the ground (crouch down)
Waiting quietly without a sound.
Light this fuse on my little toe. (touch toe)
Ready for blastoff, here I go!
5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
Blast off!

We're Flying to the Moon (from Preschool Education )
We're flying to the moon,
We're flying to the moon,
Blast off, away we go,
We're flying to the moon!

We're landing on the moon,
We're landing on the moon,
Blast off, away we go,
We're landing on the moon!
Other actions can include jumping on the moon, flying home again, etc. 

Twinkle Stars (from King County Library)
Twinkle, twinkle, little stars (wiggle fingers)
Stand and twinkle where you are (stand and wiggle fingers)

Twinkle high and twinkle low (hands in air then at your feet)
Twinkle fast and twinkle slow (shake hands fast then slowly)

Now sit and twinkle where you are (sit down)

Bend and stretch, reach for the stars (reach high)
There goes Jupiter, here comes Mars!
Bend and stretch, reach for the sky!
Stand on tippytoe, oh so high!

Literacy tip of the week: Stories with few words are a great opportunity to talk about the pictures. This will help develop your child's storytelling skills.
