ASL Sign of the Week: Eat

On a Picnic We Will Go (to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell")
On a picnic we will go, (march)

We all will jump with joy, (jump)

First you take the peanuts and you smash them,
You smash them,

Way up high in the apple tree, (lift arms)
10 little apples smiled at me!
I shook that tree as hard as I could, (shake back and forth)
Down came the apple, (wave hands towards ground)
Boy was it good!

We decorated a picnic basket template with food cut from magazines.

Literacy tip of the week: Play is an important way to develop a child's literacy skills in the early years. Pretending to have a picnic is a great way to extend the fun of these songs and activities!
